It’s still raining.
This weekend I’ve committed to race at the 6/12/24 hours of Pat’s Peak, and true to form it’s raining. I’m not sure I’ll ever get to do that race in dry conditions. I’d planned to do Catamount, but it poured. It might have been canceled- I don’t know for sure, but I ended up doing hill repeats in the rain instead.
During the ride I realized that my fitness is still OK, that my rear tire was leaking constantly, the fork seems to be losing air, and that I definitely killed another Avid Elixir master cylinder. As long as the fork will stay inflated the rest I can handle, so last night after a thorough cleaning I installed a new rear brake and found a serious cut in the rear rim tape that would explain the air loss. Hopefully the fork will behave and then it should be race ready tomorrow.
I’ve also been working on Spinney’s new road bike, shown above. His coaching outfit, QT2, is connected with Quintana Roo/Litespeed and just this week he replaced his old enough to vote K2 road bike with this. Needless to say he was pretty excited, and I was glad to be the one to get it rolling for him.
So tonight it’ll be a pre race burrito, some more bike work and early to bed. Pat’s Peak is waiting for me.
Time to get off those avids and get a proper brake, some new XTR’s would like just right on that Moots.
