Last fall I picked up a very used Redline Conquest Pro ‘cross frame and Ritchey WCS Carbon fork from a friend who was cleaning house. While structurally sound the paint was shot, and after some debate I opted to get it powder coated mostly because I wanted to protect it from corrosion as it would be used as a winter beater or salt shaker. And if I was going to take the effort to put it together then I wanted it to at least look presentable.
I had local powdercoat experts VT Coatings in Cambridge do an semi-matte olive drab finish on the frame a stem to match. Carbon doesn’t withstand the heat of baking the powder so unfortunately I couldn’t get the fork done.
Here’s the stem- basic, generic Taiwanese 100 mm x 6 degree aluminum.
Looks much better in olive, eh?
And the frame.
For the build I’m thinking…Campagnolo?
