I’m going to blame cabin fever for this.
Through my search for a bumper protector for the Speed I found this pretty dope carbon wrap. Alright it’s not really carbon wrap, but it’s carbon-looking and is therefore an enormous sticker that can be used to “tune” or “mod” just about anything.
First up was the rear bumper. After some careful tracing of the template I cut out two pieces from the sheet.
All in it went pretty well. Here’s what it looks like installed.
I think it compliments the rubber Mazda trunk liner and the rubber utility mat that I cut to fit the seat backs.
With that done I got the idea to cover the fairing for my roof rack.
What started out looking like this
With some careful application and trimming now looks like this.
This really isn’t necessary, but I like the stealth look of the carbon. I don’t consider the rack an accessory so I’d like to make it as innocuous as possible. Removing the die cut stickers from the bike trays is the next step.
I’m really hoping that riding season is just around the corner. Having the rack sorted is going to make getting out on the trails with Carrie I little easier, although I still need to get the feet and towers to adapt it from the tC.
Training has been mostly fine, but I’m sick of the rollers. Sick of talking about them, sick of thinking about them and sick of riding them. I know it’s not forever and that every mile logged now is getting me closer to being race ready.
In some respects I’ve been tinkering with car stuff because tinkering with bikes makes me far too eager to ride outside. The weather is supposed to improve mildly this week so I might even get a couple rides in.
I’m hoping it won’t be long.
