So it’s definitely winter.
And I still haven’t gotten out on my skis. Not even once.
As a result I’ve spent a ton of time on the rollers, 90-120 minutes at a whack, and that’s mostly because I need to get my bike fitness up for my training camp next month. The other part of the equation is getting lean. For January I’m doing well, but there some tweaks to be made and I need to start drinking less midweek. Sound familiar? Yeah, I know.
I have almost all of the parts to build the RCX, or at least enough for a cursory build. I’m still waiting on a shim so I can run my Thomson post as part of the final build but I have others I can use for just the initial assembly. It’s been damn cold, but if I can get the bike built I may be able to get some time on it outside during Saturday’s warm up into the mid 20′s.
Fortunately the past two weekends I’ve been heading over to Spinney’s to ride (as shown above). We watch the usual roller film fare of the relatively plotless but visually entertaining action genre, and having a friend to share the time makes an indoor ride more of a ride than being indoors.
If, and that’s a big if, I can the RCX running and the weather is halfway reasonable I might do a workout I’m calling the Tilford Double Down. If the Hampsten is riding to the ski hill and then going skiing then the Tilford is riding outside then getting your mileage up on the rollers. I have no idea whether that’s the kind of thing he’d do, but it seems like it is so I’m going with it. I hope he doesn’t mind.
