Overview
This is not a real race- it’s an event geared around some high quality, supported rides on predetermined kick ass routes. Remember that group ride you did with a handful of guys at that awesome place and rode all day and covered a ton of ground because you were all about the same skill and rode about the same speed? And there was no fucking around every other intersection. This is about making that happen, and if the weather sucks we’re doing it anyway because then it’ll be something you will remember long enough to tell your grandkids about it.
The idea is we’ll head out on a brisk group ride both days with riders either agreeing to ride in a group or with the pre-downloaded route guidance through Garmin/Strava. The goal with that is to make it so we can ride relatively quickly without waiting at every intersection. Strava segments will be set for selected climbs and descents on the way so if you feel inclined to hammer you can and we won’t burden anyone with trying to keep times or track results.
Rules
Don’t be a dick. There are no prizes or glory here, it’s really about the ride so abhorrent behavior will be handled with a healthy bitch slap and will in no way be tolerated.
Event Brite Registration
We’re offering two different options for this year’s event. You can do one or both days. Registration includes the cue sheet, KOM/Enduro intel for the Strava segments and some sag support. If you’re interested please sign up ahead of time so I can get an accurate count. The logistics and support for this are labor intensive so the field size will be kept relatively small.
Options:
1 Strava Doper- this is your life, and your life is a race. You race to be the first to the dinner table, the first to finish and try to beat the mailman to the mailbox. You will be pinning it on the up and the downhill sections because second place is the first loser.
2 Gregario- for the love of the sport. Steeped in tradition with a commitment to the culture and simple joys of riding. And you don’t race- maybe because you’re over it, maybe because you were too slow. Maybe it’s both, or maybe you don’t have a compatible device and don’t give a shit about Strava. This event is about the experience and your segments will not be timed or contested.
Day 1 is a mountain bike route connecting several of the trail networks in and around Stowe including Town Loops/Cady Hill Forest, Trapp Family Lodge, Adams Camp, Tamarack and The Wall. Total ride time will be 4+ hours at a brisk pace.
Day 2 is a similar format but on the road. Primarily paved but with some short, dirt connector sections. Total distance will be approximately 60 miles with some substantial climbs and descents.
